You’re a lizard, Barry!
See how that works? Two misplaced letters and you’ve confused all meaning and comprehension for that poor soul reading your website. She desperately wanted to do business with you, but is now thinking, “holy shit, these people are insane.” Even if you feel pretty confident in your spell casting abilities, you should always have an expert mage run through, review, and revise your words to get the most from your content.
Copywriting
Back off man, I’m a scientist.
Not really, but I am a doctor and have been doing other people’s homework for … well, pretty much ever. I swear, I wrote no less than seven different response essays on Ethan Frome for some “friends” in Mrs. Mashburn’s 8th-grade English class. That was a challenge, but it’s also when I learned I had the magical ability to code switch my writing to “sound” like someone else. It’s also when I earned seven A’s on the same assignment in the same class and only got credit for one, which taught me a valuable lesson about not doing anything for anyone without getting mine.
Translation: Pay Glyffin to create original content for your business that capitalizes on your unique brand voice and helps you bring in those sweet, sweet doll-AHS!
Naming
Call my name, Bastian! Please!
You ever notice how, like, every fantasy movie has some deal about someone’s “true name” and how learning that name is, like, the strongest magic ever. Yeah, that shit’s real. In branding, we talk about how a brand identity is the sum of its parts. As in life, some parts are bigger than others and in the hierarchy of “important stuff in your brand” your business’ name is like #1A. Unfortunately, naming your company can be some of the hardest magic out there to decipher. Good thing you know a level-42 word wizard to help with that … wink, wink.*
*… Me. I’m talking about me! I’M the word wizard!
Brand Consultation
What would you say you do here?
All this talk about copy and content and aligning your messaging with your branding may have clued you in to the idea that everything begins and ends with brand identity. For a lot of small businesses, the logo becomes synonymous with “brand”. If this is your viewpoint … yeah, we’re gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday and sit down with the Bobs to discuss some things. And, look, we get it - your budget is tight and there isn’t a whole lot of room for consultants and graphic designers. Yet, you should know that not creating a brand strategy is leaving money on the table. Let us work with you to analyze your current brand assets and devise an approach that is affordable and that optimizes the tools at your disposal to elevate your brand from something your niece designed for you in her art class into a fully-realized branding statement!

contract services
We had an agreement!
How many times has this happened to you? You’ve got a service-based business. You land a client. You provide them with a contract and scope of services agreement (something you probably paid a lawyer a fair chunk of money to prepare). You get a few weeks into the work and your client pushes you on things you KNOW are covered in your contract and SoS. Now, you’ve got a mess on your hands because the client, who seemed perfectly normal and well-adjusted at the onset, has transformed into a raging pain in your ass. Why? Because he didn’t read the contract. Well, we think we have an answer - contracts that 1) cover your legal bases and 2) are entertaining to read! We know! Crazy concept. Stay tuned for contract review services, fun-to-read contract templates for start-ups, and contract creation.
Human Resources … um, Resources
Finally, someone with a passion for HR.
Small business owners often have to be all things to their businesses. Whatever can’t be outsourced has to be covered. Accounting? Yep. Employee management? Yes. Shipping and receiving. You betcha! Of all the hats entrepreneurs have to wear, the one that ends up getting forgotten and collecting dust on the shelf is Human Resources. We could get into all the pop-culture nuances about HR and how NOBODY respects or even acknowledges this aspect of running a business, but the brass tacks is that if you have employees, HR is a necessary component of running a successful small business. Just so happens, we have a HR mastermind on our payroll and she’s equipped to get you the basics of HR, including employee manuals, performance evaluation rubrics, internal policies on hiring and firing, and everything else you need to run a Toby-Flendersons-wet-dream of a company.
